A dishwasher is a domestic appliance for cleaning dishes, cookware and cutlery automatically. The dishwasher cleans by spraying hot water at the dishes, with lower temperatures used for delicate items, unlike manual dishwashing, which relies on physical scrubbing to remove food and drink leftovers. Dishwasher detergent is mixed with the hot water and pumped to one or more rotating spray arms, which blasts the crockery and cutlery with the cleaning mixture. Once the wash is finished, the water is drained, more hot water enters the tub and the rinse cycle begins. After the rinse cycle finishes and the water is drained, the dishes are dried.
